Associates Encouraged to Improve Knowledge
and Skills

SYSCO encourages associates to gain knowledge and improve skills that will benefit their job performance and enhance their career opportunities with SYSCO. The Tuition Assistance Program is available to associates who are pursuing undergraduate level courses offered through accredited colleges and universities as well as courses offered by accredited/certified technical schools. In addition, tuition assistance can be utilized for graduate programs. Since 2001, we have provided $432,703 to 253 employees through this program.

Additionally, SYSCO associates can enhance their skills by logging onto the corporate resource library of the Training & Development Department. The corporate resource library can provide an associate with books, tapes, and videos to support both individual and professional development initiatives, team development goals, and coaching resources.

SYSCO Interactive University (SIU) is a virtual Corporate University that manages, administers and delivers quality learning – anytime, anywhere. SIU supports the learning and collaboration needs of our Associates and in the future, our Customers and Suppliers. Classroom materials, book abstracts, online books, workbooks, online courses, and online collaboration tools like e-Meeting are available. Professional development certifications can be earned by anyone interested in growing skills in their current position or preparing for a new one. Go to http://siu.sysco.com for more information.

Another way SYSCO Associates learn from one another is through SYSCO's Best Business Practices (BBP) Website. The BBP site is a SYSCO portal where associates can find valuable information by SYSCO department on how to do their daily work better and more efficiently. Users can search for practices based on topic or procedures to find what works best in SYSCO Operating Companies. Associates are encouraged to leave feedback for others to see and gain insight, and all practices are reviewed and rated by Operating Company peers. In addition, users have their own personal spaces to form social networks around their areas of expertise. Sharing 'Best Practices', collaboration, and networking are all critical parts of the BBP website.
